I have never tried it on a Polo, only the Golf 4 and Passat 3B where it is very difficult but just possible.

Re: how to remove door panel in vw polo 2002-05

Funnily enough we had to do one on Thursday. The car was brought in with the drivers side rear door not opening from inside or out. I pulled on the interior handle and the lock button stated to rise but as the handle was released, the button went back down, I could feel a springy action in the handle. For the next 30 minuets with myself on the inside and one of my mechanics Matt on the outside carefully thumping at the door around the handle and pulling the handle, whilst I pulled the interior handle at the same time, we worked on the door. Suddenly the interior button popped up and stayed up, then the door could opened from the outside and possibly would have opened from the inside but there was no way I was going to shut it again to find out! Matt then stripped the door down and fitted a new lock unit which cost the lady about 230 all in. I looked at the panel with the door shut and it looks like one hell of a job to get the interior panel and the the sheet steel window carrier out with the door closed, I would not like to have to try it!
