This will be a list in progress and very few people will read it but for infractions I will refer to it.

1) Only legally obtained and registered copies of VCDS or other diagnostic systems can be discussed, not under any circumstances is there to be any talk of illegal cracked or cloned versions.

2) No discussion on how to remove or degrade the performance of any legally required emissions systems namely but not confined to Exhaust Gas Recirculation, exhaust catalysts, Secondary Air Injection, EVAP systems, Diesel Particulate Filters, reductant additive dosing systems (i.e. AdBlue), Gasoline Particulate Filters, inlet manifold flap delete and fast warm up water pumps. We will help you maintain these parts in working order but for road use their removal is not be be discussed. We are happy to talk about their retro installation on older more polluting vehicles. As of 06/10/24 I am going to add “misfire recognition” detection, I am no envrionut tree hugging enviromentalist but we all should have the right to breath clean air.

New one, venting crankcase fumes to atmosphere via PCV bypass or atmospheric venting catch cans.

Another new one NOX traps being mapped out. If you want to know why, do a search for NOX emissions health effects

3) Aftermarket HID/Xenon headlight bulbs in incandescent headlight units. If they are specific HID/LED headlights and fitted in conjunction with automatic self levelling and automatic headlamp pressure jet wash, conforming to UK MOT regulations, that is acceptable… but I still don’t like them, even in modern cars. Even now the regulations allow them in pre 86 none E marked light units, I am still against HID and LED headlight bulbs in incandescent lamps and with modern road legal bulbs, they are unnecessary. Some use of LED bulbs in other light units for pre 86 E none E marked units is fine, in many cases a very good idea with old dull brake and side lights

4) Mileage correction in any way shape or form, or passing on the details of those who will oblige!!!

5) Referring to the main dealer as thieves, calling them steal ers will result in censure!

6) Calling the retail chain Halfords fraudsters; it is libellous.

Additions to this list are open for discussion by sending me a private message.

7) A new one, mileage blockers. If you need to ask why these are “wrong” then you need to check your moral values; fraud springs to mind.
