    Cooling radiator fan

    Hello,

New on here, hope someone can help.

    I've got a 08 crafter 2.5.

The fan which I think is viscous, comes on mostly all the time unless the outside temprature is realy cold, or is totaly eratic to when it comes on & is noisy, with no temp gauge I cant see if the engine is hot there are no temp warning lights coming on the dash.

When the fan is on the engine is losing power.

I used to own a nissan Cabstar with a similar type of fan & when the engine got hot it came on resulting in a loss of power & a very similar noise.

Are the fans on the crafter electronicly controld via a temp sender or are they the wax type, any ideas would be helpfull, Thanks.

Either the thermostat stuck open or the fan coupling is faulty.

    Thank you for the help.

Does the thermostat housing have an electric sender, & when you say the coupling is faulty is that the mechanism the plastic fan is atached to. thanks again.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
