    Loud Whistle at 2000 Revs

    Hello,

Newbie to the site and wonder if anyone can offer advice on an issue I have with my Golf 1.6 TDI (2011).

Over the last month or so it has developed a loudish whistle / screech when accelerating heavily - usually kicks in at about 2000 - 2500 Revs then goes. I am getting up to power without issue and do about 50 miles per day motorway driving and when at speed no issue.

My initial though is the turbo but as I am no car expert wondered if anyone could offer any other thought / advice.

I did have my EGR replaced around 3 months ago but other than that no recent work carried out.

I would say the EGR feed pipe is leaking due to the old gasket being used, we see this often.

    Thanks Crasher.

Is this an easy fix and what are the issues of driving with it whistling. Will raise with the garage that did the EGR repair.

It should be OK, what has happened to us a couple of times is the feed pipe to upper fitting screw threads have failed and you have to stop, fit Time Serts and start again which takes an hour or two.
