    Golf Mk7 r Motorway speed vibration

    Hi All,

    Been lurking on this and other Forums recently trying to get a definitive answer on a vibration problem that I have had since hitting a curb in ice in Feb. both Nearside wheels mounted a sloping kerb at around 25-30mph (and possibly inner rims of drivers side).

    My journey so far has inlcuded the following;

    both passenger wheels have been professionally straightened as they had been buckled by the impact.
    4 wheel alignment (all camber and toe within tolerance) and full road force balancing completed on all 4 corners
    Inspection by VW "specialist" - inconclusive, but suggestion of driveshaft or inner CV damage (unsure whether front or back)
    Inspection by "trusted local" garage - similar diagnosis, but also suggestion that Diff may be damaged.

    Symptoms are that at speeds below around 60mph there is no or very little vibration, but over 60 there is a very noticeable vibration that can be felt through the passenger footwell (and also through the car). No noticeable vibration through the steering wheel.

    If I tweak the steering wheel to the right above 60mph or through sweeping right hand bend the vibration is worse - feels like more of a buzzing - similar to you would experience driving over the rumble strips on Motorway hard shoulder or armco line. seems to be more than one vibration per revolution so I am thinking driveshaft may be correct but just don't understand why it is worse when steering right.

    Leaning towards swapping front driveshaft and C.V assembly but feel that this is going to start getting very expensive unless I can get a proper diagnosis.

    The VW workshop system forbids the straightening of wheels. Fit new wheels and try again.
