Golf convertible heated rear screen problem

Hi all, got a problem with the heated rear screen on a 2012 Golf tsi Convertible. Basically stopped working, light on dash comes on, fuse OK but no heat/demist. VW have messed be about a bit and ended up quoting me 3500 as the job requires an entire new roof, so they say. Has anyone any experience of a similar matter? Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

Don't think that making an intro will fix this comment as you've already ask the question.

    Post moved to correct section.

Unfortunately they are correct its the same if the glass is broken as the glass is bonded to the roof/hood. But did they confirm power is going to the glass
