Stuck bonnet catch on mk5 golf

    Hello Everyone

i have a mk5 golf, and firstly apologise if this post is somewhere else.

when opening the bonnet and then closing it again, the bonnet does not close fully. It is like it engages one catch but does not fully lock. It never opens on its own but you could pull the catch under the edge and gain access.

the local garage made it shut but tbh I don’t know what they did. It has now happened again, I am not very technical in cars at all

    Any help will be great

It happened to me last year it all rusts up, then don't engage fully when you shut it I took mine out and jet washed it and greased it up been fine ever since.its easy to take out once the bonnet is open. Or you could just buy a new one for about £30

Get a new catch fitted ASAP before it jams, make sure they pack the new unit with grease before fitting it.
