GT Tsi problems

Postby Rich_p » Mon Jun 28, 2010 11:45 am

Hi all, 1st time ive posted on here and hoping for a bit of advice.
I've got a Mk6 GT Tsi 160 its only 6 months old, 13000 miles and has started to develop a couple of issues. :x Firstly when i'm going along at a constant speed, mainly at motorway speed, after a while i get this loud 'popping/whistleing' sound that goes away if i lift off, and then comes back again after 10 miles or so, it doesn't do it all the time but is quite annoying, its been to VW and they say they can't find anything wrong with it. The second issue, and more worrying, is that whenever i change gear while accelerating, wether it be gently or harder, i get this loud screech from something that sound like a belt slipping or something. Its definaly more noticable when cold but happend every time a changed gear. I went through a tunnel few days ago and the screech was really high pitched and a horrible sound. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rich.

Sounds like a problem with the magnetic clutch on the supercharger, a known issue.
