LC7V paint code

Postby Joel252 » Sun Jul 18, 2010 10:43 am

Hi all.

New to the forum and have a quick question!!

I have a mark 4 2002 GT TDI.

I recently removed some rust from one of my arches and went to the local VW dealership to get the aerosol to do the respray. The guy asked my reg number and I picked up the paint two days later. The code in my boot is LC7V, which matched what it said on the lid of the aerosol. I later re-sprayed the area around the arch and it is a couple of shades lighter! Have tried blending it thinking it may be just due to the new paint etc but no joy. Is there two variations of this paintcode? Am I better getting it mixed or going back to VW and seeing what the story is?

Thanks

LC7V, blue anthracite pearl effect. There is only one spray set from VW, part number LLS 0P6 C7V and I normally have very good results with their spray sets but it can be just application technique that alters the colour. If you put it on too lightly it will be too light in colour and applied to heavy it will be dark, this is just one of the many miseries of doing paintwork. Aerosol touch in is very rarely even vaguely successful. I have had 30 years practice at it and I still cannot get a satisfactory result. It is fine for complete parts such as door lock caps, handles, mirror covers, number plate light plinths and boot locks but when it comes to blending, I now leave it to my paint shop to get a good result. I tried to paint out some marks on my rear door and it looks OK at certain angles but from others it looks terrible.
