2013 Sharan 1.9 TDI Auto - Auxiliary Heater and DPF Fumes in the cabin and outside of the car.
I have had the same problem since I got the car. VW says they have not had any complaints, VW Lookers told me they have had a number of people complaining and it was due to the Auxiliary heater and the DPF running the cleaning process. I paid them to look and another garage to look for the problem but there were no leaks or faults.
I used https://www.hydra-fueladditives.com/...f-cleaner.html and https://www.hydra-fueladditives.com/...r-cleaner.html it helped a little bit but I still have to have the windows open and the AC or Heater on internal circulation only.

LEEZ - First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

What did this garage use to find the faults, VAG-COM\VCDS? The Auxiliary heater is a common fault that will show error codes.

If this is happening at the moment I can't see it being the auxiliary heater, how long have you owned the car? As the last 1.9 TDI Sharan was the 2010 type 7M it will be a 2 litre.

    Hello LEEZ,
I'm so sorry you too are experiencing the ingress of fumes into your Sharan TDi. Mine drove feel absolutely mad when approaching the dealerships, they too said there was an acceptable amount of Auxiliary Heater and DPF Fumes which do get into the cabin and ventilate outside of my car. Acceptable, what's that supposed to mean? So my grandchildren and passengers, besides my wife and me feeling sick and dizzy is 'acceptable'. I do not think so. Please believe me I had world war three getting them to accept that fumes are NOT normal. Whilst I truly loved my brand new 2013 Sharan TDi DSG the situation exploded beyond resolution; with the dealers trying to convince me that I was the one to blame and over critical. I was eventually forced to trade it in for another large MPV. The only other in that league was a Ford Galaxy 2.0ltr TDi 180 power shift titanium X. To date I've thankfully had no hint of similar fume issues with this branded diesel, in fact it's been quite exceptional. Trading in was not an ideal outcome for sure as I love German auto engineering. I'm shortly facing another challenge, my Galaxy MPV is approaching it's warranty period in March 2019 and I always change cars around that time frame. I've been researching the market again and know that a new Sharan is forthcoming in early 2019, but will it have the same issues? Major exact mechanical changes info are not forthcoming from dealers or the WWW avenues? I'm therefore understandably cautious; I don't want a re-run of my old Sharan issues so I'll play things cool for the moment. One last reassurance, you are NOT on your own with this fumes issues, and I don't think it's totally resolvable from what I've learned from experience. Chucking your 'good money after bad' is not ideal especially when vehicles cost a small fortune as it is. VW should have sorted this for its customers.

    Kindest regards,

    John

It isn’t new, the problem plagued the original Sharan/Alhambra/Galaxy and even the Touran and they moved the exhaust pipe away from the cabin air intake, hmmmm, genius move that! It is a downside of a company becoming TOO big, they do not learn from their own mistakes, much like the human race......

I just added his signature from his car spec without checking the details closely, I've corrected that now.
