    140/170PS Scirocco unusual issue

Hi, I recently bought a Scirocco GT TDI Bluemotion 6 speed from a private dealership. When I bought it the salesmen verbally told me it was a 170bhp car.

Upon checking the paperwork the description of goods is 'Scirocco Diesel Coupe 2.0 Tdi 170 Gt 3dr'. The issue is that it does not state in the description of goods that it is a bluemotion car.

The second issue is that when I ran an online plate check the car comes up as a 140bhp bluemotion car (a model that is explicitly cheaper than what I am paying for now)

so I have a couple of questions

    1) Does the 170bhp model of the car come in a bluemotion variant?
    2) in the description of goods that I mentioned earlier (Diesel Coupe 2.0 Tdi 170 Gt 3dr) does the '170' mean the bhp of the car?

because if it turns out the paperwork says I have a different model of the car to what I physically have then I have issues on my hands.

Thanks in advance for your help guys

You don't say the year of your Scirocco? 140/170 mean PS not BHP.

The Scirocco 140PS will be 08/08-11/10 CBDB or 11/10-05/14 CFHC. The 170PS will be 05/09-05/14 CBBB or 11/10-01/13 CFGB.

    Post moved to correct section.

Best way to check is in your service manual. On the 1st page will be a sticker with all the option codes, engine code etc

The engine code will be a 4 letter code...

    140 PS codes:
CBAA, CFAA, CAGA, CJCA, CJCB, CBAB, CBDB, CFFB, CJAA, CFHD, CAGA

    170 PS codes:
CAHB, CGLA, CFGB, CBBB, CEGA, CFJA, CAHA, CGLB

If you have any other engine code, i'll look it up for you.

And yeah, the 170 in that description should mean the PS / BHP.

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.
