airbag light and steering wheel controls not working

    Good morning.

Yesterday morning I started my car up and the airbag light was on. I also then noticed that none of the controls on the steering wheel worked and neither did the horn.
I drove it last night and obviously the same things were occurring but the steering wheel wasn't lit up either. It's as if the power to it has been cut off.

Is there a fuse for this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for that crasher.

Is that an easy and cheap fix?

No, they are expensive and a pain. On the 2009>2011 3C it is not possible to determine which part is fitted without firstly carrying out a compatible and specific scan of the steering column electrics, the VW parts system does not even give a hint of which part number is fitted (5K0 953 569 AG, AR, AS or AJ are common numbers) and that number is used to look up a cross reference replacement number such as 5K0 953 549 B which is 267.23 AND then you have to fit it which means removed the air bag and steering wheel and then after installation it has to be coded into the car and set up to the ABS system.

The steering column multi switch parts on page 953-050 of ETKA showing "Clock spring with cancel ring" 3C0 959 653 B are for cars built up to 31/10/2009, cars 1/11/2009 are on page 953-055.

    page 953-055

Control unit for steering electronics 'Only possible determine the part fitting by part number by reading it using the diagnostics tester' - 5K0 953 569 S, 5K0 953 569 T - 252.69 was dropped on 01/02/2014 for 5K0 953 569 AS - 224.29

I just search for 2011 Passat CC because ETKA has a weird text search.

Very odd text search, so much so that I don't bother with it.
