    2003 Transporter/Caravelle 2.5 TDI error codes

    Hi,

#Firstly sorry for the long post (But I am desperate)

    HELP:
I have a problem with a 2003 VW Transporter/Caravelle 2.5 TDI 102bhp, I had a camshaft fitted just under two years ago, (guaranteed for tow years), the engine got very noisy so I called the fitter back, he listened to the engine and said there's nothing wrong with it (They all sound like that), I told him that he said last time that the cam had gone (and it was a lot quieter) and charged me 800 for a new one, He plugged in vag com and adjusted the diesel pump timing. I took the van for a spin, I was quiet but I had no power what so ever, Was then told that I have 10 other faults which is why it has no power, ( He then charged me 120) I asked him to send me the fault codes so I can get them fixed, The next day I went to start the van so I could take to a garage to get sorted and it would not start, I text him and he finally got back to me saying that its because of the other fault codes is why it would not start, I said but it was working and I had power/boost when engine was noisy, but since you had done the diesel pump and quieted the engine down it will not start, Can you come back and reverse what you did, he said I have to get the faults rectified and the van will be fine, He has now sent through a pic of the fault codes and there are only 5 rather than the 10 he originally said,

    The codes are as follows:

    17848 egr valve [N18]
P1441 - 35-10- Open circuit or short to ground - intermittent

17957 Boost Presure Regulation valve (N75)
P1549 = 35-10 - Open or short to ground intermittent

    17552 - Mas air flow sensor (G70)
    P1144 - 35-00 - open or short to ground

    17660 - commencement of injection value [N108]
    P1252 - 35-10 - Open or short to ground - intermittent

18062 - Please Check DTC Memory of intrument cluster
    P1654 - 30-00

But I cant see any wires that go to these,

I am disabled and need my van to get around and have been without it now for three weeks,
please help, would these stop the van from running or am I having the wool pulled over my eyes

    Many thanks Stuball

Give me a prod tomorrow and I will look at the wiring diagram to see if there is a connection that could be checked. These codes could be just from the components being disconnected with the ignition on, I think you need to start again with a new technician, preferably VAG specialist, have a code read, insist on print out, code clear, run again for a while and then a re-read and print. It sounds like the valve and pump timing need to be checked and the pump timing is very hard to get right without the specialist tools such as a pump lift dial gauge adapter.

Hi and thanks for the reply,
I can not get the van to start,
the guy I used is Steve VW Emms
    (https://www.facebook.com/steve.p.emm...location=group)

He is a T4/T5 specialist, from Cheltenham, He garrunteed his work for two years which ran out on the 16th june 2018, he is saying theres nothing wrong with the work he done, I think he doesnt want to replace the cam so is trying to pull the wool over my eyes, He wont come back to turn the pump so as I can get it started, As I will then get it into VW and get them to sort it and if they say the cam is gone then I will take him to court to get it fixed

Cam wear on these engines is rare, almost unheard of. Yes the T5 2.5 cams wear out but on yours they snap which is pretty obvious.

Hello, and apologies for the response to an old thread. However, Im interested in finding out if this matter was ever resolved by Steve Emms or anyone else. Thank you
