Air con not working on 2018 Polo?

    Hi
Hope I’m posting at the right place.

Bought a new 2018 Polo a week ago. A little bit concerned about air con though. When first bought it air con worked perfectly couple days later i could feel the temperature wasn’t as cool as it was at first. Took it back to Volkswagen to have a check under warranty, they provided us with a courtesy car while they’re looking into things. The car they gave us was an exact same model, same year etc and I could tell that the temperature was much lower. Next day I receive a phone call saying everything is fine, air con is working as normal. Usually I would agree with an expert and leave but I can physically feel the difference so i brought a thermometer we use at work to measure temperature in fridges and food products (I work at a food factory). Measured the blowout temperature at the vent in the courtesy car which came back as 6.8 celcius my car with exact same setting came back at 8.2 celsius. I spent a good hour at the centre fighting my case, they agreed to take the car back and look into it a bit more. After doing a bit of research I can see the air vent temperature should be around 4-7 Celsius.

Does anyone have any advice? Anyone has the same issue? Or just have any thoughts?

I suggested they should just too up the gas, but I overheard them saying the new model has got some sort of different gas they might not have

Sorry this is a little long winded just wanted to provide as much info as I could. Any replies are greatly appreciated.

    UPDATE:
So Volkswagen have rung me and said that they did further tests and they’re satisfied that air con is fine. I will measure the vent temperature once again, if it is lower would you suggest that I just drop it as looks like they are not willing to do anything about it. No explanation to why either.

If it's only a week old you can reject it and get your money back. Perhaps the threat of that will encourage them to treat you seriously?

Do you have another local dealer who could advise you?

As Chris says, a second opinion needed but if dealers decide to fob you off in any way IMO you need to consider paying a reputable air con specialist for a report which could then be presented to your dealer to strengthen your case for a refund.
Just an opinion - but if it was my new car I would definitely be doing just that.
