    Hi
For last few months the SOC % range was first thing in the morning 40% to 70%, this slowly got lower 30% to 60% until the last week it never got above 40%. The day before the service it was 0% and would not start. On the last day again 0% but the car did start. Early days yet but the new battery stays at around 80%.

    Hi
Seems that just after a run SOC = 90%
    Next morning SOC = 80%
Not yet gone any lower than 80%

Because of the current interest in SOC I have seen 60% before a trip to the airport before dawn this morning with outside temperature 33.
Back home after using lights and a/c heating it showed 70% after ten minutes sitting switched off.
After an hour my trusty tester showed 12•885.
    Engine on showed 14•714.
Engine off with lights etc on showed 11•011
SOC at this point showed 60% but spun the engine over and started instantly.
As I said before IMO the SOC readings should be taken with a pinch of salt.
I have seen 0% a few times in three years but despite this the engine started without effort.
I can't be bothered doing a proper load test because I have no reason to think I have a problem.
When (if) I hear the motor struggling any time soon I will be ready to act.

Seen that some AGM smart/stop/start batteries require a battery validation tool (plug in device)
when a battery is changed so not a quick user friendly battery change then.
Is this the case and does it need dealer input. Seeems like 096 AGM batteries (for SV??)
range from 150 to 350 which seems an awful lot.

Stop / start users in their quest for that elusive (possible) extra 2 mpg may have to be budgeting for a starter motor as well as a pricey battery.

    Hi
    Another problem with Stop/Start
A mechanic at VW told me he did not like the stop/start system as it puts a huge heat load on the turbo, no cooling oil.
He advised before turning the engine off, to let the engine idle for a minute or two. To allow the turbo to "cool" down.

    Hi
Had to leave the car parked up for 10 days, just before parking it up had driven 110 miles. It was nice to see that after 10 days SOC at 90%

Still not convinced with this feature. Car not used for a few days and showed 50% but started without effort, spinning like a new battery. After a short run it showed 40% in a petrol station but again spun over like a full charge would. As I said before I have seen 0% which started again without problem or strain and my testing showed all was well so I am not losing sleep.

My battery I believe has a 10 year guarantee - can you not make a claim if it has only lasted 4 years?
