2012 Touran 1.6 TDI Injector Problem

I've read previous members thoughts on buying re-manufactured injectors/ refurbished injectors as a no no. I would like to ask for some advice as my 2012 Touran 1.6 TDI (79000 miles) has let me down twice now with the fault reading as "injector number 2" but rectify itself several hours later. Most recently on the M6 coming back from Alton Towers on my way back to Cainryan for the Ferry. Not ideal.

I did hear that these injectors do give trouble but I want to ask all you knowledgeable people out there if this is common on these to rectify themselves or do I buy Injector cleaner to try first before shelling out to get it fixed or maybe even time to change.??

I can’t take any more chances breaking down especially with 2 young children on board.

The first time this happened was about 6 months ago when it went into limp more and I was able to drive it home very slowly. The most recent on the m6 it happened and the car would not rev at all.

Just need advice on this please.

Some experienced members of this forum who have big mechanical background on VAG cars say on 1.6 tdi CAYC you have to fit new genuine injectors.
In other Thread part number 03L 130 277 S and price of each injector 509.50 was posted by Crasher as he do see these failures a lot.
Lucky mine is still fine.

unfortunately very common problem on the 1.6 TDI engine especially after the VW diesel scandal software upgrade.
I had the same problem twice. VW paid both times. first time immediately and second time was charged 900 but them refunded after a complaint.

You have to get a new parts but to change it is quite easy, see videos on you tube.

I have used original parts but I would not be worried to use remanufactured or OEM parts from major brands. only 200 per injector I think.
I would only avoid the super cheap parts on ebay, not because bad, but to avoid any risk since the car goes in limp mode in case of failures.

To date I haven't left mine in for the upgrade in a VW garage. Do you think I should leave it in for the upgrade?

No, I do not recommend the software upgrade. it is not compulsory and not reversible. Main problem is that after the upgrade the number of filter regeneration becomes very frequent. In my case about every week. no material difference in performance or consumption.

not an expert, 20200 is a generic code, but I think you need a new injector. check the wiring too.

and as said you need a VCDS after installing a new injector. installation though is doable at home

Just priced a VW original Injector at 398 all in.

Do you or anybody think the following part link from Germany would work? There is a brave price difference as you will see.
