    Touareg oil change

    Hi,

I am planning to change the oil of my 2015 Touareg R-Line 3.0 TDI-CR on my own for the first time.
Oil no problem, I will get the 10 litres of Castrol Edge 5-30 VW507 as per OEM. original oil filter and new ring. I think I need just over 8 litres so I will have a couple spare.

I will suck the oil instead than opening the drain. Do you think a pump like this will work?

I have a 20 litres container to collect the oil.
Or should I spend more and get the PELA extractor or similar?
Also the oil dip stick tube seems very small. I hole the kit provided will be small enough. the Touareg dipstick seem smaller then usual.

    Any suggestions?

Spend more and get a Pela or an electric pump otherwise you will be absolutely knackered doing the change.

EDIT: I don't know how small the tube is, but if it is like my Mk5 Golf 1.6 FSI tube then it won't be possible to do the extraction.

thanks. an electric pump is not really an option since the Touareg has the battery hidden under the passenger seat. Pela or similar is a safe option.
I have to check the size of the pipe. Worst scenario I will have to buy a smaller tube but I have seen videos extracting the Touareg oil with a standard kit.

Today I managed to change my oil

Bought original 10 lt longlife Qauntum oil (VW oil brand) and VW oil filter from VW for 45...bargain at TPS

bought a 4 lt suction pump for 15. It required a smaller 6mm (outside) pipe that fortunately I had. I had an old adblue can where to put the extra old oil

The filter opens easily with a 3/4 wrench. no oil dripping from the filter but I was already sucking oil. Super easy to change including the new ring.

Oil extraction was a long process. My oil was just nearly cold. Perhaps hotter oil would have helped with extraction since the pipe that goes in is very small and the oil quite thick.

Sucked in total 6.5lt. Less than the 7.7 officially required but could not extract more. The only problem with this method is to get the pump to suck oil. It seems there are some kind of valves. First my pump was sucking just after the first valve and then after the second. I tried for an hour to suck more but nothing more was coming.

When refilling there is no dipstick which is a pity but the infotainment actually updates real time. In my case the first fill up was just half way and then I have added bit by bit and the screen was immediately changing showing a higher level.

Good luck with your oil change.

I love my PELA6000. Great for removing old oil from the filter housing too.
