    knocking noise

    Hi guys
    Iíve realised the knocking noise.
Its coming from the drivers front side
I think its a drive shaft itís a loud knocking
The sound is only there when I drive the car in gear if I dip the clutch or roll the car in neutral the car the noise will disappear.
    Any ideas ???

A bad CV joint will generally knock when its on lock. Dipping the clutch takes load off the CV joint.

I’ve had it on a ramp twice now and surprisingly when I take it to the garage the noise goes away
The cv boot was ok no splits
The rack and rods look good and tight too

Like pain disappearing when going to dentist or doctor .

Does noise appear/ disappear when driving on different road surfaces?

    Lol....
No when it’s there it’s there no matter what road I’m on.
But since yesterday morning let’s say 10am it hasn’t made any noise

    Hi
I been told the noise is not a CV joint or drive shaft if it was either of them the noise would be there all the time
And the noise wouldn’t disappear when I dipped the clutch
it’s more to do with the Flyeheel clutch or gearbox bearing

That sounds like a classic inner CV joint, the reason it goes away when at the garage is they put it on a two post lift which drops the suspension so the joint picks up fresh grease and shuts up for a bit.

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

    Your probably right
so you don’t think it’s the gear box ?
Because the noise also goes away when I put the clutch down or roll in neautral
