    Loss of power & exponential increase in fuel usage

    Hey guys.

    NO IDEA what happened to my car but recently (I've just purchased it from a garage, around a month ago) the past few days it's felt real sluggish. I would usually be able to, if I pulled hard, hit 45-50 easily in second but now it barely gets to 30 with a struggle. I drove to Birmingham and it used next to nothing, a short while ago when the car was fine - however, this time, it ate into my diesel like it was already empty.

    No idea what it could be. I've reset the ECU via the battery but no improvement. I'm basically lost and afraid to drive my car in case it further damages something I dont know about. I usually persist in looking for solutions but unfortantely I'm at a point I've had to register and ask directly.

    Only two things I can think of, out of the ordinary, are;

    1] saturday, i went to get some food and someone else drove my car. when it turned off it done the whole cooling down thing with the fans and what have you, they turned the car on and off again (started the engine) to stop it. I didn't approve but they had already done it. Not sure if this had an impact.

    2] recently been getting dings and flashing snow icons on my little HUD screen.

    I cant for the life of me think of anything else.

    The sound of the turbo is gone, it sounds like a 1.4 petrol forcing its way through the gears now. drives like one too, especially when I try overtaking on the motorway now its no longer an easy comfort it feels like im pushing the car.

    ALSO, when I accelerate and am driving it sounds like a sort of flapping noise & for lack of a better way of wording this, like its trying to suck air in but is struggling..

    Thank you for help in advance !

    Vile Invention

    Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

    First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

    You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.
