    Angry 2012 Tiguan EGR Valve

anybody had EGR failure in their vw ? (sorry if should be posting this elsewhere)

2012 Tiguan 1.9 TDI, 53k mileage , emission work was done nov 2016 (was made out at time this work had to be done)

late december car became stuttering, following day would not start at all, called AA out, the mechanic said the EGR valve had failed and blanked it so that could still be driven. Said the valve should not have went with so little usage, recommended i contact vw
local vw dealer did diagnostics and sent report to vw
have been quoted 1400 to replace the egr valve
am awaiting reply from vw after i rang them directly

surely this cannot be right ? Have bought vw the past couple of cars but this has made me lose all faith in the brand, just feel have been mislead and ripped off and very annoyed as a result and willing to take it further

    one peed off vw owner

If you search the forum you shouldn't have had the VW emissions software done. As it can't be undone.

    Post moved to correct section.

Fix can be undone by flashing ECU back to version without fix.
    1400 is kinda a lot.
Search for deal outside main dealer, but use oem EGR.
    Is it 1.9 not 1.6?

They didn't do a 1.9 TDI Tiguan, is it a CAYC code engine?

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.
