    Heater contols not working

    Hello All,

Looking for some advice please? 2009 Golf GT 2.0 TDI suffering from luke warm heat when control is on full heat. I have tried to Google this issue but wondered whether anyone else has experienced this issue and confirm what you did to fix please?

    Many thanks

    Ade

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

You car spec doesn't say much only 2.0 TDI, only what I've changed from this post. 2009 is the first of the Mk6 Golfs not Mk5, is that year correct?

    e.g.
Manufacturer: VW, Date(s) Used: 11/2009-11/2012, Model: Golf/Variant/4Motion/R32, Engine Code: CFFA, 100Kw, 136PS, 2.0 Ltr, 4 Cyls, Remarks: Turbocharged Direct Injection Common Rail (TDI-CR) R32 Timing belt

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

The heater matrix on a Golf 5 can become restricted if the cooling system is poorly maintained over its life, these cannot be flushed or cleaned and have to be replaced which is not easy.

Good morning and thank you for your reply. I believe mine is an early 2009 58 plate.

I am thinking of buying a scanner for the OBD2 port and see what this returns - are there any scanners that you could recommend at all please? Once this is done I will then post the error codes back here.

I also think I have an issue with the alternator as car is revving around 1k when I start up and some of the electrics don't work correctly until there is enough 'charge' in the circuit - I am assuming that a scan would also pick this up?

    Thanks again.

That revving attitude is how they respond to a poor battery, these modern starter motors will crank over on a dead battery but then the electrics struggle to the engine ECU lifts the idle to raise the alternator output.

The only diagnostic tool to buy is full and legal VCDS and I recommend https://www.ilexa.co.uk/diagnostic-t...-com-vcds.html
