First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

Your car spec says 0, only what I've added from this post.

Check your timing belt hasn't broken or jumped timing.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

Post moved to correct section as OP can't read sub forum titles.

Yes the cam can fail and cause pooping but it should not make it die like that, as Keith says, start with a code read, print, clear, try to start and a re-read and then post the results of both. I have seen these engines destroy the timing gear due to a seized water pump.

Did a scan only thing that showed up was a fault for crankshaft sensor. Cleared the fault but still no joy I'll check the timing next it was looking power then it died.

You were asked to post the error code not a description crankshaft sensor. You did a scan with what VAG-COM\VCDS or something else? Clearing error codes only clears the ecu, it isn't a magical fix for motor you still have to fix the problem.

What kind of diagnostic tool are you using, can it show RPM in live data? If the crank speed sensor G28 fails the engine cannot run.
