    Camchain Replacement Cost

Back into VW ownership after a few years off.. Picking up a 2009 Mk6 Golf GTi next week. It's got 130k on the clock.
Now I'm aware of the tensioner issue so I'll be checking if that has the later revision.

However I'm considering replacing the whole chain, tensioner, guides etc anyhow.

Is anyone able to provide a ball park price from an independent to do that work (UK). Also interested if people think that's going overboard and just ensuring the correct tensioner is enough? I know VW say the chain is a 'lifetime part', but... well....

Thought I'd update now I have a price for anyone looking and stumbles upon this thread. My local indy VW quoted 845 to change the timing chain and the tensioner in a working car (Not one where the chain has jumped and caused damage). 8 Hr job.

Good value. My wife paid 4000 for a new engine on her 2007 1.4 TSi when the chain jumped at 50,000 miles - and that was after a 2000 contribution from VW and the dealer.
