    2012 transporter egr woe

OK probably not a rare issue on here. Lol. My transporter has an egr fault. I'm more than capable of changing it but I've heard it needs coding or being reset? 800 quid from vw is a ripoff for a 220 quid valeo part

There are a lot of variations, which engine code?

How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

That would be a CAAB engine, the new number for the unit is 03L131512DS which costs 411.34. Buy none genuine at your peril, have you the slightest idea how difficult there are to do? We did one about two weeks ago and we do this design all the time, on a T5 it is an evil seven hour slog and that is with the van 6 feet in the air on a two post lift, on your back would be murder. People use the expression rip off far too easily....

Thanks for your reply crasher. I'm a Renault technician by trade so trying to find my way round this German thing. Lol. The Egr on it is valeo which isn't 400. It looks fairly easy as it's on top to rear of head. I'm happy to be corrected though

Only one EGR valve/cooler is used on all T5 Diesel models in 2012, EXCEPT for the CFCA. The price for a genuine unit, which will be Valeo, is 411.34 new or 370.70 exchange under part number 03L 131 527 BX, both retail including VAT from a VW van centre or TPS, you can get them aftermarket but as I have found and said, it is not a good idea. I can tell you more if you message me your REG number.

Yep, CAAB engine as I thought, the fuel of the Devil EGR units on VAG products are quite often made by Valeo. Being built on the 01/02/12 it had the earlier EGR cooler which is now VAG part number 03L131512DS at 411.34 and there is a pile of baskets and fasteners you need at the same time. There is also a slightly cheaper exchange version.
