    Poor Ride Quality

    Hi

I have a 2015 CC 1.8 TSI which I've had from new. The car has suffered from poor ride quality with noisy tyres since it was 3 months old and the tyres now need changing. I've been recommended to change the wheels from 18 inch (tyres 235 x 40 R18W) to 17 inch wheels with 235 x 45 x R17 and fit softer tyres than the Continentals the car came with.

The VW dealer wants 3,000 to do this which I think is exorbitant. Anyone had a similar problem? If so do you know a good alloy wheel supplier and could you recommend a quieter better riding tyre.

Any comments would be appreciated. Many thanks

    Hi Gazwould
    Thanks for your interest.
The car's done 14,000 miles but as one of the tyres is damaged I thought I would change them all and fit smaller wheels in the hope I can cure the ride problem. I know the roads are particularly poor here in East Sussex but the car crashes over the bumps far more than my partners Seat Leon which has 55 aspect ratio tyres and it's time to try to improve things. If I didn't like the CC so much I wouldn't have kept it. VW have been little help but must know that CC's on 18 inch wheels give an unacceptably harsh ride.
    Cheers

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

Buying new wheels from a dealer is extortionate.

Could you private message me your cars REG number so I can see what your car has?
