    Trade Parts Specialists (TPS)

    Hi,

For years I have bought parts for my Mk 4 Golf GT (TDI) / 150BHP from TPS. I called today and they said "Since 1 March 2019 TPS are trade only, you now have to order through your local dealer". They also confirmed this is now national TPS policy rather than a per-branch thing.

What a pain in the backside!

I used to get my orders through on the Parts Club account (with discounts and usually the Four Plus range) and the prices for genuine parts were pretty unbeatable and came with the peace of mind of genuine parts.

I hate dealing with the local VW dealer on principle and always take my car to the local independent VW specialist for the bigger work (clutch, timing belt + water pump etc). I wouldn't dream of asking my local independent to order parts for me though so I can do a basic oil / filter change or brake pads etc!

So, what are my options now? Where is the best place to buy genuine parts at reasonable prices without being ripped off by my local dealer?

    Thanks.

Allcarpartsfast.co.uk is an option I've used a few times with success. Ebay is another.
Use 7zap.com to find part numbers prior to either.

They also slashed the trade discount to virtually nothing, literally 5%!

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.
