Fuel line bleeding Polo TDI CFWA

    2011 reg

Do I fill the filter with diesel through the outer spout when changing it?

Its not really necessary, when I've changed my fuel filter I use VCDS to run the fuel pump in the tank with the return pipe disconnected so it pushes diesel into a container rather than the engine compartment.

You can Google fuel filter replacement and they say fill the container up with clean diesel.

    Thanks for posting!

Have taken delivery of a Hengst fuel filter and it states its made in China. Hengst are a German brand!

The seller claims they buy directly from Hella who make Hengst filters.

On the CR TDI you MUST bleed the fuel system by running the in tank pump and the high pressure electric pump on the right strut tower if one is fitted, failure to do this can damage the high pressure mechanical fuel pump which then throws aluminium fragments into the injectors, the repair bill can exceed 5000... yes 5K!

    So what's the procedure please?

Which pipe comes off to vent and how do I activate the tank pump and the high pressure electric pump?

Apparently VCDS software can be installed on a laptop and connected to the car via a lead?

Which VCDS software should I get?

    Thanks for the link.

So do I install the software on to a laptop, get a ODB/USB cable, connect the laptop to the car's OBD socket and use the software to run the pumps to prime the fuel line after the filter is fitted?

So you don't have a genuine VAG-COM\VCDS cable yet?
