    New golf much older owner

So I am driving along listening to the Sat Nav Lady for directions then the Radio comes on and drowns her out. How do I reduce the radio volume (better still switch it off!) without losing the Sat Nav Lady, apologies if this is a really dumb request.

It will be in the handbook but hopefully an owner will come along and share the method

Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

Undoubtedly it is in the handbook but I lost consciousness once trying to locate it. I believe someone much more clever than me did describe the procedure but I can't find the thread.
In my case I turn the radio off by turning the Media on with nothing connected to it. That leaves the sat nav volume operational but it is a (dangerous) juggling performance to use both units.
If you are fortunate enough to have three arms and connected hands it is considerably easier apparently.
I found it infuriating that there was no OFF button on the radio - or perhaps I just haven't had the interest in looking for it.
If you can collar a passing nine year old you could ask him but failing that someone much younger than me will spot this and explain it perfectly.

Personally I don't think it is a "really dumb request" - I am suddenly just too old for this world.

Just had another thought. If there is a radio mute button on the steering wheel perhaps that could be used to kill the radio while you listen to sat nav instructions.
Must try that myself some day later in the year.

You current batch of admirable VW geniuses will certainly acquire a frequent TechnoHeadache - all I ever got was foot-rot from flooded inspection pits and a normal headache worrying if I would ever get paid enough to even cover the costs of parts in some cases. (Hello, any of my ex-customers reading this???)
I don't miss the game much at all now.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply, I have not as yet found the off button for the radio (only had the car a few days) but I will try the Media option.
Again many thanks from a technically overwhelmed 76 year old.

Hang about, what are you saying, are you suggesting that there are two of us?

I can balance twin 45 DCOE's but I can't turn off the radio in my VW so I use the media option which is crude but it does work.
