ABS / EPC / Start Stop Error

    Hi All,

After getting the front two tires changed; the dashboard lit up light a Christmas tree and the Steering wheel light, EPC/Handbrake, Tire Pressure loss lights all came on and then the 'Error Start stop' was displayed on the MFD.

I did a scan and found that the left front ABS sensor was faulty (which I purchased and replaced) however when replacing; I noticed that the wiring loom itself was cut and as such I think this is the reason why all 'signals' are being received to the cars computer.

So, I purchased the wiring loom from TPS and got a mechanic to fit it in and wire it up.

Now: the faults can be cleared within VCDS and the warning lights go off on the dashboard - However; as soon as you drive the car over 10mph; the lights all come back.

    The latest scan is below:

My mechanic has told me that I should buy another ABS sensor (an OEM one) and see how that goes; if that fails then he thinks its the Hub Wheel Bearing?

    Any ideas?

    Hi Keith,

Thanks for shedding some light on this - so this should really be a coding issue and not necessary to change the Hub wheel bearing as the mechanic was suggesting?

What is the ABS error code as indicated by the codes in the other controllers?

    Hi Crasher,

There are no other error codes other than the ones in the original post

So those codes in the first post clear and have not come back?

At the beginning I had the fault code that the ABS sensor was faulty - and after replacing the sensor and the damaged wiring loom - the error codes I now got are 01316 and 18255

I cleared them with VCDS and took the car off the driveway and drove over 10mph and the error codes re-appeared.

Well in that case they are reporting an error in the ABS so something does not make sense. If your VCDS is full and legal and not showing any ABS fault codes then it will need to be put on the dealer ODIS to see if Guided Fault Finding can help identify the issue.

    Hi Crasher,

Thanks for that - I just came back from Seat after your advise for them to do the fault finding.

They said theres an ABS issue - but they would need to 'tear-down' the front left wheel to find out what the problem is because there system is unable to diagnose it (a further 2hours estimated @ 157 p/h) - and thats just for finding the fault... The cost to fix the issue will be quoted later!

I'm just curious why you have posted in Sharan 2 when you have 2010 Golf GTD 2.0 TDI-CR. There is no mention of Sharan in post #1?
