    Start Stop

Is the Start Stop worth it? I don't use it all the time because sometimes I just need a quick start to get me into the traffic. And I wonder if it'll fail before the car does. All that stopping and starting. Will I save the cost of a new starter motor, or will the starter last the life of the car?

I have just been down to our body shop in a Golf 7 I am servicing and it was driving me potty in traffic, shuddering and lurching, horrid idea!

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

I'm away from my PC so can't post the relevant link but there is a thread in the Golf SV section on15.5.19 which may hopefully enlighten you and encourage you to switch it off with the very handy little button.

Thanks all for your advice, I'll be taking it. Is there any way of turning it off permanently, rather than every time you drive?

It can be coded out by a competent engineer with the relevant and correct equipment. Some may disagree but I have found that this action would have to be reversed before each service carried out in a VW dealership as the hierarchy in Germany would apparently frown on this because it would contravene their "attempts to have their vehicles clean and green at all times".............
On a current 600 mile drive along the Wild Atlantic Way there is no way I would have tolerated that abomination kicking on and off so just like since buying the car I switch it off by the simple switch, just second nature really. You will soon get used to it after snapping your seat belt on.

Soon , perhaps in October , the AGM battery voltage takes a hit , maybe permanently and it'll start everytime but stop strain won't as battery has to be right up there .

    12.1V , I love it..
