Mk5 Golf GT TDIó HOT START ISSUE

Hi all Iím new to this forum and donít know if this is in the right area.. Anyways here goes

Iíve got a 2007 mk5 golf GT TDI and Iíve got this really annoying hot start problem. I could leave the car for a week and it would Fire first turn of the key, But if I drive to the shop 5 mins away and turn engine off it wonít fire back up and just turns over & over & sometimes can take like 2 hours till it starts again when I put Jump leads on the battery it will start though... Iíve read through forums etc and people have said all different things. So I went with the most common thing people said Ď that it was faulty starter motor Ď so Replaced the starter and nothing changed. I donít wanna start randomly replacing bits as it could be costly

There is no lights on dash etc & I find it weird that it will start of jump leads

Anyone had this problem & know a fix? Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks

Just because there are no warning lights on doesn't mean there are no stored codes so a code read is vital and not a generic one, a proper VAG specific system read. There are a couple of common issues on the BKD engine which can cause this, one is the crank speed sender which is a reasonably priced part but a sod to change. The way to detect this is with the car hooked up to a diagnostic system showing the RPM and a well charged battery and possibly even a battery jump pack back up connected, get the engine hot and generate the problem. Crank the engine over continually until the diagnostic machine logs back in and watch the cranking rpm and ECU voltage. If the speed is above 280rpm and the voltage stable around 12v then the next possibility is leaking injector seats and that is the end of the car.

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

Your car spec says 0, only what I've added from this post.

As said: You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

You need to get the cranking rpm checked when the engine will not start so if you have not got your own system you will need to find someone who can do it for you.
