Which oil to use Fox 1.4

    Hi everyone

I am servicing my 2007 Fox 1.4 BKR engine. The handbook only recommends 502 00 oil. Nothing more specific.

Some websites specify 5w30 and some 5w40. Does anyone have any idea which is the correct one to use?

I would typically use 5w30 but am questioning why so many suggest 5w40.

The car has 72k and will only do about 5000 miles a year.

5w30 VW 507 is generally for engines with DPF. I use 5w40 in mine which is recommended by my dealer.

Use the new 5w/30 Quantum Platinum Plus you can buy from a VW dealers parts department.

How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

For low annual mileage I can't see the point. I used to use it in mine because it is 5w/30 but so is Platinum now.
