You have to get in by removing the back seat rest and crawl through so you can get at the lock from behind.

You need to identify what is wrong with a code read of the convenience system. Often the lock unit is faulty and due to never being used, the key barrel seized solid.

As suggested: You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

I moved this post yesterday to the correct section as it isn't a general question.

With mine, its a dodgy wire in the cable sheath between the boot lid and the wing channel.

I usually have to unlock/lock a few times to get boot lid unlocked.

Come the warmer weather, I'll get it fixed.
