Cant remove driveshaft cup from gearbox

Hi im new here so not sure if this is the right place to post this. I have a Polo mk4 9N 1.9 TDI and i need to replace the driveshaft oil seal but cant get the bolt out of the middle of the driveshaft cup as the bolt is just spinning freely when trying to undo it, do i need to compress the cup to remove it as i know there is a spring behind it or could it have come loose on its own and just need some leverage between the cup and gearbox to pop it out? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

You need a hydraulic puller which bolts to the CV bolt holes and pushes against the diff pin.

So will the hydraulic puller compress the cup in order to remove the bolt? is this even something i can do on the drive or is it better to take it to a local garage?
    Thanks for the reply

Private message me your REG number so I can look up the exact procedure as I don’t know if you have a 02J or 02M gearbox.

You have a 02T series gearbox with the version code GSA, with the bolt released (which must be renewed, 25Nm) you use a puller to remove the ****** and a press to refit it.
