steve, can you tell me how the afm effects the timing are they linked somehow

i have a feeling the fueling will be all over the place due to the rough idle , i will measure it in set up mode and report back

right had a wideband gauge on it fitted in the downpipe , fueling is in the sensible range in the 14s fluctates more with the bad idle , steadys up with the blue sender pulled

still no wiser , seems to be as it warms something in ecu is messing up the timing

You need to check the voltage at the ECU from the lambda sensor, don't trust the data display, it should be around 0.1v. It sounds to me like a tiny air leak over the lambda sensor but unplugging it should defeat this by taking it out of closed loop and with your AFR reading it makes me think spark instead, that is why a four gas reading would be good so you could see the hydrocarbon value, much more informative than just AFR. I do love AFR gauges, I fitted one on a Golf 5 R32 turbo to assist in road mapping and found it was a tad lean at idle! When I do an aftermarket ECU they are invaluable.

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

yes i think its spark , its the same with or without the o2 sensor

idle is steady from cold , i watch the timing marks and also steady , then once warm it goes to hell and the timing is all over the place

same a/f gauge as i have
