    VCDS help

    Hi,

I have a ross tech vcds cable from about 2012. It says HEX+CAN on it.

I tried to plug it into my 2016 Golf GTD but it feels like it doesnt locate properly. Do I need to buy a new interface cable? I though the OBD port was a standard fitment?

I've used this cable on 3 previous cars of my own plus I've scanned a few others. Nothing newer than 2014, until now.

    Any guidance much appreciated

I don't have a problem using my VCDS on my Golf GTD.

There is an LED on the ODB cable that should go green when its connected and the ignition is on.

On mine the ODB socket is by the drivers footwell.

Are you using the latest software? Current VCDS Release

    Hi

    thanks for the reply

I've not even looked at the software side of things. My cable doesn't plug into the OBD socket properly.

Previously when plugging in and scanning cars I've not even given it a second thought. Plug in first go and the light comes on.

I'll need to try and get a pic of my OBD port.

OK, panic over I've got it sussed.

I had to get on my hands and knees and double check the port. Everything looked OK. It just needed a bit more force to click home compared to any other cars I've scanned.
Guess I was just too scared to force it incase I broke my new car.

I show a pin layout in EOBD II Fault Codes Software

It isn't easy to add the picture as an attachment as the link always stops in my uploads.
