Question 'Check Engine' warning light & Start/Stop problem

    First post here!

I started my 2017 Golf 1.6 TSI up yesterday and the engine juddered a few times and failed to start. The 'Check Engine' light then lit up and flashed a few times. Eventually, after persisting with trying to start it it did eventually start and it drove fine for a few minutes, then a message came up saying that the 'Stop/Start system was not active' but the Check Engine light stopped flashing and hasn't lit up again since. I drove it again today and there are no warning lights showing at all and the engine seems to tick over fine and start/stop works fine.

It's still under warranty but when I called they said they would need to charge 96 + VAT just to check it, and if the problem wasn't covered under my warranty then i would have to pay that + the cost of the repair, something I'm keen to avoid.

Does anyone know what this could have been and if it's worth getting it properly checked?

(I had accidently left a door slightly open a few nights previously which meant the interior lights may have stayed on for a while but had driven it once for a short distance before the problems above started, i was thinking the battery might have been a bit low because of this and it maybe caused the problems above?)

Thanks for any help or advice

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

It needs a fault code read but the car is still under proper VW UK warranty isn’t it? If so, they should not have said that.

    Vile Invention

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.
