    1.5 TSI engine query

    Hi,

Can anybody tell me if the 1.5 TSI EVO petrol engine is problematic.

I am thinking of buying a new Golf.

Hearing stories about problems at low speeds, jumping when cold etc.

    Any feedback?

We have quite a few members with 1.5 TSI EVO engines fitted search the forum, but 3 character searches don't work on any forum 1.5 TSI EVO.

Thanks, I'm only a newbie on the forum. I don't currently drive a volkswagen but am interested in a new 1.5 TSI EVO petrol model.

Mechanically it is too soon to say but yes there have been a lot of issues with poor running as the engine has to be run too lean to meet the stringent new ECU6 part 2 emissions which crackly are daft as to run smoothly and make a cat work properly a petrol engine needs to be run at a 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio but then the Co2 figures and other emissions are too high, the EU is basically forcing us into electric cars where evidence is now emerging of them being higher polluting than many internal combustion cars. We are going down the same road as we did 25 years ago being told Diesel was the way to save the planet only this time it is worse.

Dark was that day when Diesel conceived his grim engine that begot you, vile invention, more vicious, more criminal than the camera even, metallic monstrosity, bale and bane of our culture, chief woe of our Commonweal. How dare the Law prohibit hashish and heroin yet license your use, who inflate all weak inferior egos? Their addicts only do harm to their own lives: you poison the lungs of the innocent, your din dithers the peaceful, and on choked roads hundreds must daily die by chance-medley. Nimble technicians, surely you should hang your heads in shame. Your wit works mighty wonders, has landed men on the Moon, replaced brains by computers, and can smithy a "smart" bomb. It is a crying scandal that you cannot take the time or be bothered to build us, what sanity knows we need, an odorless and noiseless staid little electric brougham.

    Thanks Crasher.
Would an independent remap of ECU sort out any issues if they were apparent,do you think?
    Would you recommend remapping?

I don't know of a remap being available yet but I am sure APR will come up with one quite soon. I would not normally approve of something that increases emissions but personally I think the EU has lost the plot pushing it so far that they have caused petrol engines to require a particulate filter because of the injection pressures and combustion methods now being used.
