VW Golf fault code 06079 hydraulic pump.play protection

    I have a 2012 Golf match 1.6 TDI DSG 7 speed gearbox.

The car keeps switching to limp mode of stops working.

    History:

A tyre blew out. Whilst waiting for recovery, the battery went flat.
This was jump started and then a spare put on.
Later the 2 front tyres were replaced.
On the way back the screens showed a flashing spanner next to the gears.
    The car would drive fine.
The next day, it kept going in going in to limp mode. It would start and then stop.
    It cannot be driven.

Recovery came and provided a diagnostic code of 06079 Active/status Hydraulic pump,Play protection.

Any ideas what this could be?

Can it be somethings simple or is going to be a new gearbox unit costing thousands?

    Telephone queries:
VW will say nothing on the phone.
One VW specialist says 99% new multitonic module with 4 hours labour.= around 2k
Another said, it could need a new gear box costing 7k.

Any advice or probability of what the issue is and could it be something simple?

I have to recover the car to a garage. Should I take to a VW dealer?
The issue is, if it is a large repair, it will cost much more than anywhere else!

    Thanks

.... The car runs perfectly, and the gear box changes gears perfectly ... But the gear indictor flashes with a spanner on the instrument cluster screen....

    Thanks.
I read this and found the Kingero solution recently.

I do not understand the first part of the post:

    Possible Cause:
    -

No possible cause listed, is this correct?

    ---
What is the technical note? I see nothing in it relating to the fault.

I can select all gears. I cannot hear the pump running constantly. I get no drive now.

Is this still likely to be my issue?
    I am not technical!

You don't say where you live in you profile? There is a site that shows Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) I thought I had a link but I can't find it as the moment.

    Profile updated. Coventry.
I need to find someone other than a main dealer, who I am sure will not repair and will want to replace the entire unit.

I would appreciate any recommendations for mechanics in or near Coventry who can confirm diagnosis and fit the Kinergo solution.

Do you know which gearbox code you have? If you don’t, private message me your registration number.

Your gearbox is an NQE code, it is a DQ200 design of the type 0AM.
