Left Rear brake light gone again.

    Hello everyone,

can anyone help me. bought my mk 5 Golf GTI about 4 months ago now, and the brake light was gone, so I replaced it. but it went again about a month later and now about roughly the same time its gone again. is this a common thing on mk 5 golfs. it went when my lights came on (auto lights) on my way home from work today. I don't really wanna ring VW as its normaly 140 for a dyno test and I don't want to pay that, so im hoping someone can help me on here so I can ring VW and tell them what is wrong, which will cost less hopefully.

    thank you.

It could be bulb quality plus someone may have been playing with VCDS on it and turned off the bulb lifetime extension setting. A Long Life bulb from VW, which is part number N 017 732 8, costs 3.60 and then get a specialist to check the bulb voltage settings using VCDS.
