    Emissions/Diesel Issue

I have a 2010 Golf 1.6 TDI and recently the Heater Plug Light started flashing and the car was juddering, it juddered for a short while and whilst putting the accelerator hard down forcing the engine to run I observed a 'puff' of blue smoke in the mirror - like a diesel choke? The light went out after stopping engine and re-starting the engine, but then the Catalytic Converter warning light came on - this has now gone out after a short period of running.

I am torn between 2 issues, I am not sure if this was a passing bit of dirt in the fuel system or is this an emissions issue given the Catalytic converter warning light and I know emissions are now a much more complicated process, than a simple burn and gases exit the exhaust.

I am slightly puzzled/concerned as to what has/is happening all/any advice most welcome.

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

As it had the VW emissions update which is a bad thing as its not a legal requirement?

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

It is not the cat part of the system which is having a problem, it is the Diesel Particulate Filter after it but in the same casing.

as Keith says, you must start by getting a code read, and print out, by someone with a VAG group comparable system as many generic systems miss fault codes.
