Advice wanted, Getting started with car maintanence and repair.

    Hi Guys,

I have 2012 Sharan 2.0 TDI < 100,000 miles. I have had it for around 5 years and it is starting to ware.

I have a "knack" for fixing things but have never turned my head twards cars. I also enjoy fixing things and would, but like to get into mecanics at my own pace.

Can anyone direct me to a guide for sorting out general fixes on the car:

For example, I would like to addres:

    - Ecessive wear on front driverside tire: I know it probs a tracking thing but dont want to admit it.
    - A guide for replacing front side window regulator.
    - A Guide for repairing intergrate child seat.
    - Egin mangment light continuiously on follwing 20 miles after service. Have clean EGR valve, no luck.
    - guidence on buying and replacing interior trim, preff scrappy.

In general I would like to be able to do this stuff my self as I have 70% of the tools and enjoy fixxing things.

The first tool you need is a full, registered and legal VCDS cable from one of the UK’s appointed Ross Tech suppliers such as Ilexa and Gendan.

Your front tyre wear is likely to be consul bush wear, these are the same size as a Polo so take a hammering, we recommend replacing them with Powerflex, as there is no caster or camber adjustment, this kit can be extremely useful https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Sharan...item56cfce457e

First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

As suggested: You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

I get the impression that a guide for this stuff is not realy practicle and then it would be better to post with you guys if any questions.
