    First restoration

I'm 44, well too old for customising pickups but here I am. My brother passed away a few weeks ago, leaving 4 children, the youngest of whom is just 10. He also left (among other vehicles) a 1987 VW Caddy Pickup and I'm tempted (only tempted at the moment...) to take it on, restore and keep it for little one's 18tg birthday. I would probably enjoy using it in the meantime. I'm a bit worried about costs, particularly having the body work done.
What are you experiences of costs in taht respect and would you recommend restoring it to its original condition or customising it a bit?

The Caddy 1 has a huge following and the spares availability is excellent and the modification possibilities are endless, it is a classic and an appreciating one. Which engine? I moved this post to the correct section.

    Hi Crasher
Thank you for the encouragement. It's a 1997 Caddy pickup (mk2 I think). My worry is being able to do the work that's needed and havng the right Contacts to get the work done.
Where would be the best place on this forum to ask for recommendations in South Wales?

If it is a Caddy pickup from 1997 (I have moved the post back) then that is actually a Skoda Forman which is a pickup version of the Favorit and parts for these in the UK can be a real problem although the Czech Republic is a good source, I have bought parts for my Octavia from there which are obsolete here. The problem is I don’t see it having any monetary value when done, only sentimental but that can be priceless... difficult one.
