    VW tyre inflator

    Hey all
I have a genuine VW tyre inflator pump.
I also have a Halfords Mains to cig lighter adapter that i use for my coolbox when camping.

My question is is that i was hoping to use the mains adapter to power my tyre inflator, but instead, when plugged in, the tyre inflator just ‘pulses’ and wont stay on.

Does anyone know if this is normal? Can a VW tyre inflator be used like this or is it faulty?

    Thanks in advance

    Your car spec says 0.

I use tyre inflator pump that plugs in to the cigarette socket from Halfords many years ago.

Is it faulty? What does the VW tyre pump do when plugged into a 12v socket in the vehicle - if it works its not faulty and its simply incompatible with your Halfords mains adaptor. Given that mains is AC and vehicle electrics are normally DC could it be that the Halfords adapter output is not suitable for powering an electric motor?

The mains adapter is not capable of delivering the current the pump needs.

Maybe I'm thick as a mains adapter is 240v unless there is a 12v one, why would you want that for a tyre inflator when the cigarette socket works ok for me.
