The glow plugs are numbered as cylinder 1 Q10, cylinder 2 Q11, cylinder 3 Q12 and cylinder 4 Q13 with glow plug cylinder 3 Q12 also annotated as QX3 which incorporates the G479 pressure sensor and Q12 glow plug so yes, it should be in cylinder 3.

thanks for the reply Crasher. hmm I'm not sure what's going on then. I will triple check when I get a chance and the rain stops. would it cause an issue being in the wrong cylinder? The car was driving fine before the eml came on and is still driving just as well.

I don't know what it would do, I never have seen it done.

stug20 - First posts normally go in introductions else you could get a free fix and we never see you again!!!

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.

My pressure sensor plug appears to be on cylinder 2, not 3 as you (and other online sources) suggest. Is this/ could this be a problem? would it be best to replace 1,2,4 with new standard plugs and fit a new beru sensor plug to 3?
    Thanks
Are you counting from left to right?
