Alas the time has come to say farewell to Bessie the Camper. She's presently for sale on eBay (just search for " Devon Moonraker "). Described as follows -

"VW Devon Moonraker 1979. Professionally valued (last year) for insurance at 8250
Tax and MOT exempt, registered on V5 as an Historic Vehicle.
Owned by us since 1996 and given us loads of great holidays around the UK and Europe. Since taking up sailing 3 years ago, the camper has had little use for holidays and been used just as a reliable second vehicle. We'd take it on holiday tomorrow with confidence.
1600TP engine with German Solex carb. Electronic ignition.
Full length elevating roof.
Eberspecher heater, toasty warm all year around!
Passenger swivel seat .
Gas/12v Electrolux fridge.
Rock and roll bed plus upstairs bed. 4 at a push!
Two batteries and an accurate voltmeter/ammeter to keep track of usage on site.
Plenty of storage space.
Also for sale elsewhere, so Listing may be cancelled at any time.

If you're after an immaculate camper, please look elsewhere and have at least 20k to part with. If you want a viable camper which will need inevitable ongoing maintenance this could be just right for you.
Viewing most welcome before bidding, about 15 miles north-east of Bristol. "

eBay always worries me, as particularly for a classic vehicle, interest may come from dreamers and timewasters. I'd prefer the camper to go to an enthusiast from the VW Bay community.
Normally I do the oil changes and valve clearances myself, to ensure it's been done properly! It's rarely gone more than 3000 miles between oil changes. I don't like to go underneath these days - getting old, so the last time the job was given to a trusted mechanic. He said in passing that there would be work needed underneath going forward. Still in regular use a couple of times a week for a 50 mile round trip to my boat.
I've just taken a video underneath, taken by phone on the end of a long stick! and in any case it would be best to view the camper for yourself.
Not desperate to sell, so will take the best offer.
