I am faced with the following issue for a 1.9 TDI BLS
After I did my timing belt change, I noticed right away that hotstart is a little rough.
Since then, I've noticed the following:
hot start rough start
engine shaking at ~1000 rpm
higher fuel consumption ( 5-10% more)
Long story short - I hit a large pothole a few weeks back and my car completely cut out on me for several minutes. I panicked and called a local mechanic who came out to where I was.
Magically the car just restarted but he claimed the timing belt needed done and it wasnt safe to drive.
I was driving my mk5 Golf 2.0 TDI at about 30mph when it started rumbling very loud. I tried driving it to safe place to stop but it cut out 50 metres down the road. It was starting up then cutting out straight away. Its in the garage now and the mechanic said the engine manifold has collapsed...
As a lot of other drivers experienced it before me, the timing belt of my car broke.
The garage is asking me 200 euros just for the diagnosis... so I am very hesitant.
I am trying to understand how much this can cost me and how bad the engine can be damaged.

Hi, I own passat b7 2013 2.0tdi (CFFB) manual gearbox 100 000 on clock. In VW page no mentions about milage when to change timing belt and i cant find anywhere interval for this particular engine (CFFB). Maybe anyone have an idea when to start thinking about cambelt change?
