WIP currently

Hi,

I've pretty much had issue with the air-con since I owned the car, after recently having it serviced and had the air-con regassed and dye added in case of any leaks I thought I'd take a look at why I never seem to much air blowing out when A/C was turned up. Finally purchased a genuine VCDS as I had some other issues to sort on my Passat.

00716 - Air recirculation Flap Positioning Motor (V113)

This made sense as there was a constant clicking sound behind the glovebox, which was the V113 motor constantly trying to turn. I tried running Basic Settings for the motors to learn their positions in VCDS and could see this motor kept getting stuck (after glovebox removal).

I picked up a new motor - part number 1K2907511G - Positioning Motor for Recirculated Air Operation V113. Was about £108 from VW.

First, take the glovebox out

Wiggle out the lower A-pillar trim: (I pulled it towards the centre console to release the clip and then pulled it forward towards the bonnet)


Pull out dash panel end trim (I have some trim removal tools, but you could do it carefully with a blunt knife/screwdriver wrapped in tape at the end):

Pull out centre A-pillar trim (just pulls out straight towards you):


Disconnect footwell light behind glovebox:



Undo the 3 torx at base of the glovebox, also 3 along the top behind the glovebox door: (forgot to take a pic of those)



Pop out this panel and unscrew the left hand torx:



Pull glove box towards you and to the left: (hold carefully as still some wiring harnesses attached at this point)



Disconnect airbag switch: (make sure Ignition is off)



Disconnect glovebox light and A/C hose:



Now you can see behind the glovebox: CECM on the right, A/C HVAC left; motors in the middle:



CECM: Undo the hex bolts 6mm iirc, pull forward off the mount points and move it aside to give you better access.



Disconnect front and rear cables to the two motors (front V113, rear V71): Ihad to cut a couple of cable ties.
Undo the 2x 5mm bolts:



Undo clips at front, lift panel to the right, up and then towards you: it should then just lift out with a bit of wiggle.



Voila, the offending item. Undo the rear bolt on the plastic carrier to remove the old motor.

Refit in reverse.
