Hi all, same thing happened to me with my Octavia 1.6 TDI. It was bought used and at 110k whilst going on vacation with my wife and 3y old the car lost power and started rumbling badly. It was towed to my mechanic, a guy that has 20y+ experience working with VAG cars, and it came down to bad fuel. I did in fact fill up from a different station that the usual one. Moral of the story I've managed to track down on ebay all the parts (fuel pump, rail, injectors) saving some money as the injectors we're bought regenerated. What I didn't buy my mechanic cleaned thoroughly. After the repairs the car had a weird habit, on the highway and only there at 120/130kmh on upwards inclines the car would vibrate slightly. I told my mechanic about this and he check the car out again but everything was fine. 4500km later on the highway going on vacation again with my family sparkplug warning light came on, on cilinder wasn't firing anymore. Towed it back and changed the faulty injector as it was thankfully covered by warranty. My intention is to sell the car ASAP as I don't trust it anymore. I know it sounds silly but its the truth. I'm done with VAG cars and thinking about ditching diesel altogether although I do almost 20k km a year. Thoughs?
