It is an issue with the 1.5 petrol, it runs too lean and is causing huge problems for VAG owners. To me the only solution would be an aftermarket remap.

I’m having same problem had it back to garage this morning now they want it overnight to check it
also it sometimes cuts out when doing slow speed and low revs the said at the garage they have put it on the computer apparently there was no faults on it but they did say it only registers the last 50 starts of the engine

Only registers the last 50 starts! That's a new one on me... sounds like dealer ********. The 1.5 has what is probaly an incurable lean running issue, I doubt VW will be able to come up with a fix and it will fall to the aftermarket. I have driven an afflicted Golf and it is classic lean running hesitation, if you use a diagnostic system to shut down the lambda control the fault disappears. I blame the EU rule makes for all this, the Co2 target for petrol engines is just too ambitious.
